The ORIGINAL Zero-Mod thumb rest for the Rickenbacker 4003 bass This is a custom-made thumb rest requiring ZERO MODifications to your bass -- NO NEW HOLES!It attaches by using your existing pick guard screw holes. The 4003v2 model is custom made for the newer Ric 4003 bass guard. It's very close, but not quite interchangeable with our 4003 or 4001 Models. For proper look and fit, all Rickenbacker models MUST use the appropriate version. This 4003v2 fits the NEW STYLE GUARD Rickenbacker has on some 2015, some 2016, and all 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 Rickenbacker model 4003, 4003S, and 4003W, 4003SW, and 4003S5 basses. If you are a finger-style player with a Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003, you know there is no really good place to "hang your thumb" - You see many Rics with a wear spot at the corner of the pickguard, where players try to "dig in", and many Rics with the chrome cover removed from the bridge pickup to allow finger style access. I designed this for my own 4003 as I wanted to make it more comfortable to play and keep the "cover on" as that classic look is a big part of this bass for many Ric fans. This thumb rest is made out of one quarter inch high quality white acrylic, and precision CNC made in a machine shop here in the USA. The position and design mean NO NEW HOLES in your bass.and the beveling means it's comfortable to glide your thumb along. It includes two pick guard screws that are slightly longer than the stock Ric screws, so you do not even change the screw holes by adding this on. It's almost Invisible on a guard from a few feet away. RIC PARTICULARS:Due to variations in models and years and the EXACT FIT these are made to, it is not possible to offer a "one size fits all" version.
