These items can be used to fill an empty WWI 6-pocket bandoleer.The primary small arms rifle ammunition used by the U.S. during WWI was the .30-caliber M1906 round produced for the M1903 and M1917 service rifles, and for most of the machine guns then in use. The ammunition came packaged in 20-round boxes for the machine guns, and M1906-pattern cloth bandoleers for the rifles. The bandoleer provided a means of carrying ammunition in an easily accessible manner. It was made of heavy cotton cloth, had 6 pockets, and a shoulder strap of webbing with a safety pin to help adjust its length. A protective cardboard pocket box was used in the bandoleer pockets to prevent tearing of the bandoleer fabric by the bullet tips, and a cardboard card containing the type of ammunition, lot number, and manufacturer, was placed in one of the pockets to meet Ordnance regulations. The lot number was usually printed on the bandoleer as well. Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for one bandoleer restoration kit for the WWI M1903 and M1917 service rifles. The kit contains 6 cardboard pocket boxes to hold 12 5-round stripper clips, 2 different lot data cards, and a black safety pin. The pocket boxes are shipped flat with assembly instructions. No bandoleer, stripper clips or .30 caliber rounds are included.
