Description: This WW2 US Army USGI 101st Airborne Division 502nd PIR Widow Makers Cut-Edge 3" Jacket Patch is in good condition overall but shows expected signs of age, service and storage. The patch is clean and free from any obvious rips, tears, holes or serious stains. The construction of this patch is nearly identical to other genuine WW2-era cut-edge SSI patches on hand, appearing to have a "Khaki" backing material like those produced during the War. When tested on a synthetic background with two known reproduction cut-edge patches, the patch offered for sale did not glow. The front sides of the reproduction patches also did not glow but the synthetic white threads on their backsides and edges glowed with distinction especially when directly compared to the patch described in this listing. While many different styles and variations of the "Widow Maker" patch are known to exist, this example strongly appears to have been produced from the proper materials and shows honest wear from and age and handling.
