Description: WW2 Memorial Cross to Royal Canadian Air Force, from Mission, British Columbia WW2 Memorial Cross to Royal Canadian Air ForceCanadian Memorial Cross, G.VI.R.F.O. W.A. WHITE J-5096. Flying Officer William Alfred White was born on 21 June 1914 at Vancouver, B.C. and his family resided at Stave Falls, B.C. he was employed as a teacher and P.E. Instructor for the Mission School Board when he enlisted in 1940. He was an Observer in 221 Squadron and reported missing on 9th May 1942 whilst on a special duties flight to North Africa which failed to return and all personnel were presumed dead later. He is commemorated on the Malta Memorial.No. 221 Squadron was part of Coastal Command. It flew Vickers Wellingtons on reconnaissance and anti-submarine patrols in the Atlantic, first out of England, then Northern Ireland and later Iceland. The squadron relocated to the Middle East in January 1942 and operated in the Mediterranean for the rest of the war, disbanding at Idku, Egypt on 21 August 1945.Will be shipped with Tracking.All items are unconditionally guaranteed as to authenticity.
