Description: THIS SIGN IS A PICK UP ONLY ITEM!! PICK UP IN SAN FRANCISCO!! From the 1970’s is this bright and bold authentic San Francisco stop sign still firmly attached to its original 9’ tall squared wooden post. Adding to the urban appeal is the faded spray painted words, “BUS STOP” in yellow and black that rests just under the metal STOP sign. CONDITION as stated above is great. It’s not perfect which is what makes it so appealing. It was an authentic stop sign that was retired due to an on the job accident one sunny afternoon when my father, his belly and blood pumping with the 2 blenders of Gin Fizzes he’d consumed at Brunch, felled the unlucky sign with his faux- wood paneled, Ford Grand Torino station wagon. Now, just a souvenir of a challenging childhood.. So at around the halfway mark of the post is a 2 foot long area in which about ⅓ of the width of the wood was shaved off. A war wound, but not debilitating. The post is plenty strong. Totally authentic, a screen star probably, having lived on the brutal streets of San Francisco in the 70’s at the same time that the smash hit TV crime drama named “The Streets of San Francisco” was up and thriving, this sign is perfect for a movie or stage prop (Bus Stop, for instance ) or for a piece of unique interior (or exterior) decor. One other condition note is that there is no base, so to speak, so the sign doesn’t stand on its own. The bottom of the post looks like a stake that was in cement that was snapped off by a giant car. Keep in mind that it would look awesome mounted on a large loft wall. And it also leans against walls like a pro! For obvious reasons, this is a pick up only item. I live on Twin Peaks in the heart of San Francisco. The buyer would need to have their own way of picking up the sign.
