Description: Russel Wright Orange Speckle Melmac Platter by Northern Boston 27. Measures approximately 14 .75” x 11.75” Wright's first Melmac line of plastic dinnerware for the home, called "Residential" was manufactured by Northern Plastic Company of Boston beginning in 1953. "Residential" received the Museum of Modern Art Good Design Award in 1953. A beautiful serving tray with iconic mid-century lines. The base has 8 raised “dots” which act as the feet for the tray. Very durable, but do not use on stove, oven, or in microwave. Very good vintage condition! Some light scratches on the front which I have tried to show in the pictures. Please note: the color is an unusual speckled light and dark orange, which appears different depending on lighting. Check out the photos for color comparison of LED light vs. daylight.
