Description: Curated from a collection discovered at a luxury estate sale in St. Louis, MO this is a rare and limited edition vintage (and retired) Christmas plate from the renowned Irish Belleek Parian China collection. The plate features a beautifully detailed off-white Parian China base with a round shape and a diameter of 9 inches. It is approximately 1 inch tall. The Christmas plate for 1974 features an embossed motif with the monastic ruins on Devenish Island in the center. The bottom of the plate features the Belleek logo. The monastic site was founded in the 6th century by St Molaise. It was raided by Vikings in 837 and burned in 1157, but in the middle ages flourished as the site of the parish church and St Mary's Augustinian Priory. The site is particularly special as the ruins on the island are from many different periods of history. This collector plate is perfect for any Christmas plate collection or for any lover of fine China.
