Description: Open this time capsule and experience the golden age of Japanese build quality all over again NRO's source in Japan made this incredible find: a high-quality reflector and GP mount with tripod — all in pristine, never-used condition. Each and every component of this complete telescope/mount/tripod set, including all accessories, was entirely nihon sei (made in Japan); estimated date of manufacture, November 1998 (see label imprint by Vixen logo on outer box in last photo). The tape on the left-hand Styrofoam OTA block shown in the photos was cut by NRO for the first time... then all components of the set were assembled — for the first time ever — with extreme care (to the extent possible, bits of masking tape were placed at all points of metal-to-metal contact) in order to preserve the items' pristine condition while taking photographs for this listing. It's difficult to capture in photos, but the mirror is absolutely spotless, without even a speck of dust and no visible signs of deterioration of the mirror surface. (In NRO's quick daylight field test, tree limbs/leaves were tack sharp through the K20mm eyepiece at about 100 yards, suggesting the collimation is good and the scope is ready for action right out of the box.)
