Description: I have here for sale a NICELY ILLUSTRATED book by the ancient Roman poet Virgil entitled P. Virgilii Maronis Opera. Interpretatione et notis illustravit Carolus Ruaeus, Soc. Jesu. Jussu Christianissimi Regis, ad usum Serenissimi Delphini. With 15 engraved plates but looks like the map has been taken ( between pages 16 & 17 very annoying.) Title page with red and black title lettering. And engraved chapter headers and tails along with chapter dropped capitals. Text laid out in double column format. It includes the Argumentum in Bucolic, 4 books of Argumentum in Georgica, and 12 books of Æneidos along with Index of the Vocabulary. Bound in full calf boards. Faint title lettering on the spine which has five raised bands. Worn spine ends with loss. Embossed decoration to the boards. Wear on the edges of the boards but they remain firm. Front flyleaf has been pasted down to the inside of the front board. Penciled numbers on the verso of the frontispiece. Inked out name on the title page and penciled date number. Pages are toned but generally clean. Name and date inked to the front fore-edge. Lacking the last few pages of the index ( approx 9 pages), last entry is Venini. This book is in good condition, tightly bound with no loose pages. 610pp plus index, 21cm x 14cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped. To keep the cost of the postage down to the most economical level per book, you may consider buying more than 1 item from my eBay account. You can then request a combined postage cost and I will combine the items into the fewest parcels as possible - saving you money :) My main posting days are Monday and Thursday ie.
