Description: ***********The automatic movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 42 hour power reserve period and the date wheel rolls over perfectly as it should. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1960/70's Lord Elgin Aquamaster has a seldom seen silver linen "-T- SWISS MADE -T-" signed dial that is in pristine condition and the lume, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel cushion case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. Between the lugs at 6 o'clock is the stamping "490 AC." The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF AUTOMATIC AQUAMASTER" with "809614" stamped along the inner edge. As most clearly seen in picture 9 the crystal should be replaced as it is chipped along the outer edge at 11 o'clock. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. The automatic movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 42 hour power reserve period. The crown winds smoothly. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 35.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the mid-case to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. This watch comes on what I believe to be its original stainless steel "PAT PEND" and "JB Champion U.S.A." stamped bracelet that shows no stretch. I'd guesstimate that it may comfortably accommodate up to an approximate 6.75 inch wrist. The buckle snaps shut tight. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking!***********The automatic movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 42 hour power reserve period and the date wheel rolls over perfectly as it should.
