Description: Offered here is a stunning, delicious old store stock (DEADStock), UNWORN, French labeled brassiere, peach satin “bullet bra”. It is luxurious, luminously shiny and very supportive— and a great example of midcentury modern lingerie design. The circle stitching on the cups used to be referred to as “contour” cups as they shape breasts into a “cone” shape. This bra is labeled “marque depose” (registered trademark) and TOLOSA on the satin tag. (Toulouse (/tuːˈluːz/ too-LOOZ; French: [tuluz]; Occitan: Tolosa [tuˈluzɔ]) is the prefecture of the French department of Haute-Garonne and of the larger region of Occitania.) Wonderfully constructed Pinup retro style from the 1940s-1950s—sexy and lovely! Reminds me of the VARGUS pinup girls or “sweater girl” of the 1950’s. This conical type shaped bra that “lifts and separates” is shown in the “sweater girl” look photo of Patti Page that included in the photos to demonstrate this look— also popularized by Madonna! Measuring the fullest part over the cups when I stuffed them —the bra measures 38-39”. So I’m getting 2-3” larger than the band depending on much is pushed into the cups — so B to C cups. The band is 36” and marked 95 B French sizing which is 36 B or possibly C USA size. (I have an identical bra listed in size 34b—so take a look). The stitching and shaping of this bra makes the bust look larger and “perkier” —a style prior to today’s more natural T-shirt bras— and called “sweater girl” look or “PIN-UP” as seen on the World War 2 airplane art, Betty Grable look, and early Playboy magazines. One of the metal strap adjusters is missing as it was left off at manufacturing —but otherwise in perfect, unworn condition.
