Both have unglazed ceramic head and plate. Lincoln has porcelain arms ans legs sewn to a cloth body, in the style of old china heads. Lincoln is dressed in a black felt suit with vest and cotton dress shirt. He also has under shirt and pants. Mary has unglazed dainty ceramic arms and legs and is dressed in period green shirt and jacket with white blouse, slip and pantaloons. Both have hand painted faces, Mary has brown hair with curls that is in a civil war hair style with middle part. Areas of soiling on cloth bodies and clothing (See photos). She is delicate looking in contrast to her tall husband and very pretty.
