Vintage Brazil Modernist Floral Tapestry Wall Art VAC, 1950s, 55" wide, 39" tall

Description: Large wall hanging made by Valdivino Alves da Conceicao (VAC), a Brazilian modernist textile artist. The weaving features 6white flowers and green leaves arranged in a symmetrical pattern on a tan background. It is the same pattern, but different color scheme, as another piece he did in 1955 title “Tulipas” so it may have been done around that same time. The tapestry itself measures55.5” wide and 39” tall, from the bottom of the fringe to the top of the hanging loop, the height is about 57” (tape measure shown in photos) The piece is in excellent condition, the defects found by the seller listed below: The original backing and the wood cross supports have been replacedThere is one spot of discoloration next to the center white tulip (see photos) It is very faint and does not detract from the overall beauty of the piece. It is of unknown origin and it is possible it might come out with cleaning. There are a couple of spots where a yarn loop has gotten a bit loose (see photos)A few pieces of yarn in the tassels are a bit longer than the others Please view all photos and read the description before contacting the seller or placing a bid.
