Description: Vintage Sterling Silver Alfredo Villasana Taxco Mexico Screwback Earrings. Taxco Mexican artist"Alfredo Villasana" was apart of the Mexican Renaissance jewelry revolution that took place in Taxco in the 1930's, when American born,William Spratling went to Mexico & turned the jewelry industry around by getting away of more European designs & jewelry started ending up becoming more"Unmistakably' more Mexican looking..Alfredo was a manager for William & then later went on to manage Hector Aguilar's shop, before finally opening his own in the 50's..He is considered one of the FINEST in repousse work, which is a technique that is not the easiest to do unless you are skilled & is done by working from the 'backside' of the metal,to get the lifted front side relief. You have to be able to 'see the design' on the reverse side & know how it will come out on the top.Alfredo is accurate & beyond precise & is also was a master at designing some of the best in Taxco.
