Description: I'm pleased to offer this "Vintage"ORIGINAL BAULE Carved Wood AFRICAN MASK. It measures 24" long X 6-3/8" wide X 3-1/2" front-to-back. This "unusual" hand-carved wood ceremonial dance mask has an integral handle at the bottom (see images). Beneath a carved wood antelope figure at the top is a long narrow female face with painted black hair, curved eyes and a bright red pigment color (see images). Cutting tool marks are visible within the whitewash finish backside recess (see images).With no inordinate chips or cracks and no hanger or hanger wire; tiny thru-holes are present to facilitate wall display. Minor nicks, scuffs, paint loss and "patina" are conditions commensurate with a vintage provenance (see images).
