Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The AS 1951 manual wind movement runs strong, albeit fast, when lying on a flat surface. However, when the watch is angled it tends to stop. Additionally, the crown, which feels solidly intact, is on a bit squirrelly. As clearly seen in the pictures the bezel/insert is missing. The date wheel rolls over perfectly as it should. A complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1976 Bulova Caravelle has a glossy black "T SWISS T" signed dial that is bubbling/peeling and the lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. While the hands have oodles of character and present beautifully I have not seen them on this reference before. The bezel/insert is missing. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with signs of oxidation above the 1 o'clock mark. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE | SHOCK RESISTANT | STAINLESS STEEL | 333 FEET | ANTI MAGNETIC | WATER RESISTANT" with "N6" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "Q 107" followed by "CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION,""BULOVA WATCH CO." and "HONG KONG." The crystal shows scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "CARAVELLE WATCH" stamped AS 1951 manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit fast, when the watch is lying on a flat surface. However, when the watch is angled it tends to stop. The date wheel rolls over at 12 am with the semi-quickset date function working flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 15 full revolutions the movement gained about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 35 hour power reserve period (when lying on a flat surface). While the crown feels solidly intact it winds with a decent amount of tension and looks to be on a bit squirrelly when pulled out. A complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 7 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping will be provided.
