This item is a rare vintage 1970s 100 ml canister bottle of Guerlain Mitsouko EDT perfume in the famous blue and white French Faience pattern. Luca Turin calls Mitsouko the ‘reference’ chypre and ‘brilliant.’ Jacques Guerlain created this classic in 1919. He named this exquisite perfume after the heroine of the novel ‘The Battle,’ written by his friend, Claude Farrere. The battle in case was fought during the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Mitsouko, the wife of an Admiral in the Japanese navy, had an ill-fated love affair with a young British navy attaché. Mitsouko means both 'honeycomb' and ‘mystery’ in the Japanese language.
