Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the crown can be wound and the movement runs, it does run slow. And while the movement tends to run consistently when the watch is lying on a flat surface the seconds hand stops intermittently when it's held at various angles. The movement fires back up when the watch is gently shook or spun. Lastly, the mainspring likely needs to be replaced as the crown can be wound less after each successive power reserve cycle attempt. Given these issues and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1969 Caravelle diver, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a speckled black "T JAPAN T" signed dial that comes alive in bright light. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case, which has retained its original finish, shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation (that is dirt between the lugs at 6 o'clock in picture 11). The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE - WATER RESISTANT - 666 FEET - STAINLESS STEEL" with "M9" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal should be replaced as there is a small crack along the outer edge between 10 and 11 o'clock. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale, the case back on this one is torqued to what feels like factory specs. The manual wind movement runs albeit slow. The original "C" signed non-screwdown crown winds smoothly. Given the issues mentioned and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given the issues mentioned and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking!***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the crown can be wound and the movement runs, it does run slow.
