Description: Vintage 1960"s PLATINUM Pocket Fountain Pen, Japan Made, 14K Gold Nib From 1963, the Japanese fountain pen manufacturers, namely Sailor, Pilot and Platinum, had all worked on the production of a miniature fountain pen that could be clipped to the shorter shirt pocket of the Japanese man. These pocket pens were relatively shorter than the usual fountain pens when capped but became a full-length pen when posted. Most of them came in with 14k gold nibs but Sailor started to bring in 21K nibs from 1969. These nibs were mostly Fine and number 2 or small nibs, but they wrote as good as any of today's larger gold nibs. For sale here is an excellent sample of these pocket fountain pens produced by Platinum in the 60's. silver color cap, rhodium plated black plastic barrel and section beautiful gold-plated clip nib: 14K gold w/ "PLATINUM" marked on both sides - writes very well; should be of a Japanese M?F size nib. length: 4.56" capped / 5.77" posted takes usual Platinum ink cartridges in overall good working conditions - this pen has been completely cleaned and tested. There is a very tiny dent on the back of the cap, and some hairline scratch marks on the cap too. I collect Japanese vintage pens. If you are interested in these pocket pens of the 60's and 70's or other vintage pens, please watch out for my other present and future listings.
