Description: Our item #1905-5233 Just a little somthing for those with Interest! The last pic, is a Tool Holder I just found among the Lathe's item's, looks like E. Chick's Tool Holder dated April 25th 1930, Could have been an owner of the Lathe, I think we'll call him Edwin, I bet Edwin never imagined his Tool Holder and Lathe will be viewed by Thousand's!!! a Century later. Even though it's basically not for sale given the price today, I hope you find an apprecitation for it, There may come a time in the not so distant future that I get it back on it's feet and looking Respectable And of course I will switch out those Zinc Plated Bolts as soon as I get the appropriate time period one's from the Blacksmith Oh I mean McMaster-Carr I just set up the Lathe's Hanger Bearing's/Lineshaft, And I Just Love It!!! When spinning the Flat Belt Pully, the whole assembly has a bit of a noticable wobble too it including the Babbitt Bearing Cartridges. And just think they were making Locomotive Steam Engines, and the latest of Automobiles with the likes of this Old Lathe Well with that I doubt anyone is going too buy the Lathe at the listed Price! But I'm making a Note: The Lineshaft, Bearing's and Pully are Not Included! Money comes and goes! But Cherished Memories and 100 year old Lineshaft's are almost Priceless and Forever. I know the Price sounds outrageous! But one can buy a significant Machining Center accessory every day of the week, for about what I'm asking! You can't Buy one of these but once maybe a Decade!!! And anyone that ever had anything to do with this Old Lathe are long gone! Many of them were our WW1 Hero's! God Bless Our Veteran's!!! I think it was meant too pass the 100 year old mark before it gets a restoration I was just informed from another on eBay, that the year of mfg. Is 1917, So I am going too go with that, I like it! It puts the Lathe over 100 year's old Your pretty much looking at a restored version of the Lathe in that one Pic. I know of nothing missing on the Lathe! Down to the Change Gears. Sorry I do know of something missing, there are about 3" dia. little oil drip catch cups that hang beneath the Lineshaft bearings, 4 in total, I may only have one, Again the Lineshaft is Not Included! Just a Note: The Pics, don't show the Lathe Justice! There is little wear on the Ways, Saddle, and Cross Slide, They work fine! It has sat as you see it in my basement for over 20 year's, the rust you see is minor! Scotch Bright would do Wonders! The Bronze Bearings are awesome, don't know what year they switched to Roller Bearings, but I love the Bronze, just like the Brass Gits Oilers The E M Heald Horizontal Mill pictured along with the Edlund/C H Gosiger Box Column Drill Press are also listed on eBay. VINTAGE 1917 SOUTHBEND LATHE 14" X 66" (Very Early Serial No.13608!!!) This Lathe is Extremely Complete, I was told a Southbend employee had it set up in his basement for many year's, In actuality it appears to have not been overly used, The lineshaft bearing support brackets have been modified from mounting from the ceiling to say the wall, Also the change gear cover casting is broken and would need the two pieces Braised back together, As you can see, the Lathe comes with many accessories!!! And the right Individual can have fun trying to figure out there Design function's Is that right Individual YOU? Sombody! Someday! Will BE!!! The Proud Owner of what I Hope is a Great Restoration If you are one thinking I'm asking for a lot of money, just think of what an Old Complete Barn find Harley goes for! Of course this is not a Harley, and I'm not a Biker, Maybe it's meant to stay with me! In your lifetime, one would be Hard pressed to find as Complete, In as good of shape as this Old!!! Lathe is! I think some machine shop owner should buy it restore it, and put it in his Foyer! You put a variety of the accessories next to it as conversation pieces! OMG, you have just Won over a new customer Thanks for looking!!! Check out our other quality unique item's, at our eBay store.
