Description: This is a Rare Antique Empty Wooden Firearms / Ammo Box. The box measures 14 ½” x 9 ½” x 9 ¼” tall, and has both its top & bottom. The two larger panels have the lightly embossed words “Du Pont / Peters Victor Shot Shells / Peters Cartridge Division / Remington Arms Co. Inc. / Bridgeport Connecticut” , in black & red colors. The smaller side panels each have a notch in them as a carrying handle, and say “12 ca. 2 ¾ In. 3 – 1 1/8 / 7 ½ - Hercules Red Dot / Peters Victor Trap-Loads / 500 Shot Shells – Load 716 7 ½”. The lid has been hinged on, and if the words are viewed legibly, the lid is on the bottom. The front of the lid has a leather strap, that can hook onto a screw in the front panel, to keep the box snugly closed. The lid has a black patina, and may not be from the original box. It also has a slat top layer of wood broken off on one side of the outer lid. The bottom has its original its original wood, and one of the slats that makes up the bottom has a crack in it, throughout the length. The sides of the box are in very good condition, except the lettering is worn or faded here & there. A Very Interesting Old Ammo Box!!!
