Description: This item is a rare find. A South Korean-made cigarette lighter (ABC - SunMy Inchon) presented by then Commanding General William P. Yarborough (I Corps) to Brigadier General C. W. Chapman. Yarborough is perhaps most famously known as the "Father of the Modern Green Berets" as he was commander of the US Army Special Warfare Center in 1961 and was largely responsible for impressing upon John F. Kennedy the need for a distinctive piece of head gear for the Army's unconventional warfare specialists. He also influenced the design of the tropical combat uniform worn in Vietnam, which was influenced by his Parachutists Uniform design. Yarborough later went on to assume command of I Corp in the Republic of Korea, a post he held for only one year - 1968. This lighter is from that time period. It is in very good to excellent condition, and appears 100% authentic. I have no additional provenance, as it came out of a collection of Zippos and other lighters that was purchased many years ago by an area militaria dealer.
