He was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy August 1927, where his mess dress uniform was produced, and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. July 1928 signed to the 48th Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment where he saw action in Grenada and Nicaragua. November 1929 assigned Division 1 Observation Squadron 9th Regiment with operations in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. June 1930 assigned to the Marine Barracks, Naval Air Station. November 1932 assigned to the 66th Company, Marine Detachment American Legation, Peiping China. June 1933 to January 1935 Marine Barracks, Navy Yard, Pearl Harbor. June 1936 Marine Detachment Rifle Range, Cape May, New Jersey. April 1937 promoted to Captain and assigned to the Marine Barracks, RTC Depot, Parris Island. August 1938 Marine Detachment, USS Lexington. April 1939 USS Louisville, Balboa Canal Zone. August 1940 Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Regiment. July 1941 promoted to Major and assigned to HQ Company, 2nd Marine Division. April 1942 assigned to base HQ San Diego. When he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in January 1943 to July 1944, assigned to HQ Company Amphibious Corps, Pacific Fleet, San Diego. October 1944 to July 1945 assigned to HQ Company Supply Service FMF. October 1945 First Base HQ. July 1946 First Service Company, Camp Lejeune. He was discharged effective 6th July 1948.
