Description: Beautiful original engraving of U. S. President James Knox Polk, 11th President, by Rice & Buttre. Done in 1860’s. Over 150 years old. Size: 12 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The picture without the writing at the bottom is 3 7/8 by 5 1/8 approximately. Condition: No foxing but toning along the edges. You wont see once matted. See photos. Great pic especially with an acid free mat and a black frame. We have over 200 engravings that we bought as a collection in Philadelphia. We thought we were going to open a print shop so for 30 years we collected. If you google you will see lots of people sell copies of this engraving but this is the original. The library of congress has this in there collections along with many other museums. Great piece of history. A lot of copies of this engraving and others are much smaller. This is an original and great size for framing or collecting or both.
