Up for sale is a barely-used CD radio show from 1989. This fall, the show will be 35 years old. The entire show ran just under 4 hours (including national commercials). The show featured interviews old and new (new at the time) from the band. Built To Last would prove to be the band's final studio album. The show covers the band's career up to that point. The tracks denoted "live" were from previous album releases. Grateful Dead was only featured one more time on Up Close - 1991 - in an Up Close Extra show. This is a hard show to find, especially with cues. The disc was tested and works. Some of the earliest CDs in this series succumbed to the dreaded CD-Rot, where the CD won't play or plays with heavy static. This was especially true of discs made in 1988 and 1989. BACKGROUND INFOUp Close started around 1987 and ran until early 2004. Up Close was one of the better radio shows with each show being unique. The shows usually coincided with the release of a new album by the featured artist. Radio shows are typically in a rockumentary-style and many include music and rare interviews between the music. Interview segments were short (raw interviews consume about 8 to 10 minutes per hour) and discussed the times, specific tracks, specific albums, and other historical items of interest. The CD(s) were professionally produced and distributed to radio stations. The shows usually have their original national commercials, typically at the end of each segment. Limited copies were made (probably well under 500), so they may increase in value with time. Most were either given away, destroyed or returned to the distributor after the show aired. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.CONDITIONCDs (Visually Graded): EX condition. The CDs each have just a couple light, very minor scratches on the discs, but otherwise clean. Part 1 CD 2 is in EX+ condition. Cue Sheets: A copy of the cues are included (6 pages in total). The cue for Part 2 is an original cue. They are folded. Most cue sheets were folded in half, thirds or into quarters when they were shipped out. Sometimes cue sheets have writing and check marks from the DJ and/or program directors. Double Jewel Case: Ungraded. Two double CD jewel cases for each show part are included. I don't grade these as the cases are easily scuffed, but also easy to replace the plastic part with. The cases have some minor surface wear and scuffing, but they are not broken. I will make sure the discs are secured for transit. Note: The silver-back disc is NOT a homemade copy, but the genuine disc professionally made and once used by a radio station. It is NOT a bootleg, counterfeit, copy, or any other unauthorized items. It is simply being sold as a collector's item. The rights to the show remain with the copyright holder(s). The item photos may show some reflections from the camera flash and/or the room lights.
