Unique Vintage 1940s Ombre Chiffon and Lace Layered Dress Bust to 34

Description: What a unique and marvelous mystery this piece is! Atop a cerulean blue lining is acres of shirred and gathered ombre chiffon. Was this intentional? my thought is yes, for the progression from pink to lavender to mauve to periwinkle echoes a most splendid twilight to dusk sunset. The coloring is so uniform it has to be intended. Every area of the dress hosts a color progression. The shirred bodice features square and draped neckline, gathered lace, shirred and gathered and puffed sleeves, rosettes, forget me nots and side metal zipper. The skirt is full, gathered into the waistline and accented with pale blue lace. So very well-made and designed. Perhaps a costume? A rare and collectible 1940s mystery. Dry Cleaned. No structural damage but faint staining at front of chiffon (see photo). Dress measures: bust 34, waist to 25.5, hips to 38, shoulder to shoulder 16, sleeve length from shoulder 8, length 550, hem sweep is 68 inches (cerulean lining). Chiffon Hem Sweep measures 100 inches.The bagged shipping weight is 1 pound (The lightweight fabric is substantial here.) A note regarding vintage clothing: it is rarely perfect.
