When it rained the turned-up portions of the brim formed gutters that directed rainwater away from the wearer's face, depositing most of it over his shoulders. During the 17th and 18th century this style of hat was very popular so besides pirates and military personnel, civilians also donned these hats often. The Leather Tricon Port Royal Pirate Hat is constructed of 100% full grain tanned and treated leather. The outer portion of the brim has been treated with a leather protector and waterproofed. Both sides have been laced in place with leather string. This entire hat has been custom made and hand stitched for a quality piece that will last through you r years at sea.
