Description: Pro Elgin Archxerciser™ - Superior Athletic Performance Begins with the Foot The PRO Elgin Archxerciser Resistance provides a stronger spring-load resistance for key foot exercises of the arch, toes and overall foot. PRO Archxerciser is designed as an advanced model for athletes suffering from sore feet and/or athletes looking to increase their running and jumping performance in a particular sport. While the Archxerciser is designed as a powerful adjunctive tool for rehab patients post surgery or for athletes looking to increase their abilities, they are both perfect for any person who wishes to strengthen their feet as a preventative measure, so that they don't suffer from ailments causing sore feet. If you are a rehab patient, Archxerciser affords you relief from sore feet by strengthening your foot's intrinsic and extrinsic musculature and it treats a variety of common foot ailments, including plantar fasciitis and heel spur syndrome. While this effective tool has a wide range of applications and has proven to be effective for treating the foot & ankle after surgery, both the Archxerciser and Pro Archxerciser have been scientifically proven to improve an athlete's jumping performance and acts as a preventative aid against sore feet for those who stand for extended periods. All Archxercisers are packaged in a retail hangable clamshell with instruction card. Effect of Foot Intrinsic Muscle Strength Training on Jump Performance by Caroline L. Unger & Michael J. Wooden, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2000, 14(4), 373-378 Jumping ability, whether horizontal or vertical, is a critical element in many recreational and competitive sports activities. Therefore, the improvement of jumping ability is highly desirable in order to maximize athletic performance, which is required as part of a skill (rebounding in basketball, catching overhead balls and spiking a volleyball) or as its own event (long jump, triple jump and high jump). Abstract: Fifteen subjects, 21-62 years old, participated in a 6-week toe flexor strengthening program using the Archxerciser. Pre and posttraining data for toe strength, vertical jump height simultaneously using the Just Jump and Vertec, and horizontal jump distance were collected for both control and exercise legs. Post hoc paired sample t-tests indicated significant improvement in all categories. This supported the hypothesis that the unconventional method of strength training the toe flexors should be considered a valuable adjunct in a training program designed to enhance vertical or horizontal jump ability. 2. Reducing Foot Pain & Increasing Foot Strength by Utilizing the Elgin Archxerciser by Vincent Travisano, D.P.M. & Allen Mark Jacobs, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.S. Summary Extract: The Archxerciser was utilized in 47 patients as adjunctive therapy in the management of common foot complaints and concerns. 85% of the subjects demonstrated marked reduction in symptomatology utilizing the Archxerciser. 15% of the patients completing the study did not feel the Archxerciser contributed to the reduction of their symptoms. All patients completing the study demonstrated increased extrinsic and intrinsic muscle strength to the foot utilizing the Archxerciser. The measured increase in strength ranged from 38% to 250%. The authors conclude that the Archxerciser represents excellent adjunctive modality to the treatment of a variety of common foot complaints and concerns as well as in the rehabilitation of patients following common podiatric reconstructive procedures. RECENT ARTICLE ABOUT WEAK FEET OR ANKLES: Shin splints? Knee pain? It could be weak feet (A portion of an article published in The Bulletin on May 21, 2015 by Tara Bannow) Weak feet or ankles that lack stability can cause a number of issues up north, although people tend to overlook these areas. But because feet form the base for the body’s forward motion, they’re crucial in determining which muscles will be emphasized as the body moves. If they’re weak, a person’s balance can be completely off — a big problem for older individuals. Weak feet and instability can also contribute to ailments such as bunions; Morton’s neuroma, a painful nerve condition in the ball of the foot; Achilles tendonitis, swelling and pain in the tendon that connects the leg to the heel; hip bursitis, inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs in the hip joint; and plantar fasciitis, swelling and pain in the tendon that runs along the bottom of the foot. “You know the adage, ‘When the foot hits the ground, everything changes?’ It’s so literally true,” Ford said. “It’s oftentimes the key to treating the knee, treating the hip, treating the back, because if you can change things below, where everything starts, you can really change what’s going on above.” TESTIMONIALS: 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: I ordered this strengthening device for my father. He suffers from plantar fasciitis. He was amazed at the difference it made. He says he can now get up in the morning and walk without pain in his arch. He would recommend this product to anyone with the same problem. JOAN P. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: This product really works. I am recovering from a broken big toe and soreness and tightness in my feet from walking "funny" during the healing. This helps to stretch out the tight muscles and relieve soreness. It also helps to loosen up the big toe that is healing and is stiff. RAMONA W. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: This product is really amazing, and has helped me much with my foot soreness, and tiredness due to fallen arches. I could not live without my orthotics from the podiatrist, but I still get some soreness and tiredness when on my feet alot. This product has truly helped me, and I can get through my intense workouts much better! JEANNA T. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: As some of the other reviews have pointed out, there are other ways to achieve the same effect - like picking up coins or pulling a towel toward you with your toes - but this tool makes the process of strengthening your arch so much easier. I find the archexerciser so useful that I am buying a second one to keep under my desk at work. I had been taking my archexerciser back and forth so that I could use it both at home and at work - it's easy to do exercises with it while working at your computer - but that is a hassle and the price is not too high, so having a second one makes life easier. As others have said, don't expect miracles overnight, but with plantar fasciitis you have to take a broad approach to healing yourself and the archexerciser is certainly a very useful tool in this process. GREGORY P. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: I have suffered from Plantar Fasciitis for years. I also suffered from horrible cramps in the arches of my feet while exercising (I actually had to quit going to spin class because of it). I took a chance and bought this arch exerciser. After a few weeks of using it faithfully I am completely pain free! I no longer suffer from the cramps in my arches and have returned to spin class! I continue to use the arch exerciser because like any other muscle you do have to continue the therapy or the problem will return. I only use it a couple times per week now or when I feel my arches stiffen. SHELLY R. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: I purchased this for my daughter. She is a ballerina. She loves it! We saw it in a dance movie.
