Description: Please read item descriptionTHE KING’S GRACE1910 – 1935(JOHN BUCHAN)The book was written to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the reign of King George V. This sympathetic portrait starts with the death of Edward VII and George V’s accession. It was a reign that saw many changes including the Union of South Africa, the First World War, and the General Strike of 1926. John Buchan wrote that ‘This book is not a biography of King George, but an attempt to provide a picture – and some slight interpretation – of his reign, with the Throne as the continuing thing through an epoch of unprecedented change.’This is a School Edition of the King’s Grace and has a college award presentation sticker affixed to the front endpaper which bears the recipient’s name neatly handwritten together with the teaching staffs’ signed names on the opposite flyleaf. The rear blank flyleaf contains the signatures of form V (lower) – 1935. This 1935 1st edition hardback book is in good / very good overall condition, considering its age, and displays little wear inside the book. The pages are tightly bound and are free from tears, creases, and significant marks. The hardboard covers (no dustjacket) display marking, some grubbiness to the surfaces and bumps, knocks and rubbing to the edges (see photograph). The book runs to 160 pages (19.5cm x 13.5cm) and an additional 7 pages of photographs.
