The Complete Works of Rudyard Kipling Vol. 1-36 Outward Bound Edition 1913-1937

Description: This is a truly complete set of The Works of Rudyard Kipling Outward Bound Edition. It contains all 36 volumes that were issued including the final index at the back of volume 36. Volumes 1-25 are all dated 1913. The remaining 16 volumes increase in year until the final book dated 1937. Over the years, additional books were issued to subscribers when they released until after Kipling's death. There are many sets like this one available around the internet, however very, very few are complete from start to finish. This set is a rare find. The tops of each volume are gilded, and there is a unique carving bearing an elephant and a swastika on the front of each book. Some of the later volumes are slightly different color covers from red to reddish brown, which seems to be normal for these sets. The condition of these books vary. The majority of them are in good to very good condition. Many have tight binding and minimal wear to the covers, however this set does not seem to have been given proper storage over the years. Several covers are slightly warped as if the books were kept on top of one another for a while. Volume 4 in the pictures is a good example of what most of the books look like with clean and crisp interior being kept by a slightly worn cover. However, there are several volumes that are exceptions to the rule. In addition to the pictures above, please note the following: -Volume 1 has several marks on the back cover, as well as possible slight water damage to the tops of the pages that is less noticeable.-Volume 8 has a break in the binding at the back of the book causing the back cover to be loose.Volume 11 has sustained water damage that has greatly affected the cover, and wrinkled the pages inside. The book is still readable.-Volume 18 has a slightly folded top of the spine board as well as pen writing on the front inside cover.-Volume 19 has a break in the binding at the front of the book causing the front cover to be loose.-Volume 23 has a pen signature on the inside front cover.-Volume 25 has several marks on the front cover.-Volume 29 has a worn, possibly water damaged spine along with missing gilding on the front cover. The inside seems to be fine.-Volume 35 has damage to the spine board.
