Description: Soviet Afghan War Campaign Medals Grouping w/ Document for Ukrainian Veteran Very interesting set of medals for a Soviet veteran of the Soviet-Afghan War. Though Soviet veterans of Afghanistan were not treated with much grandeur, they nevertheless received campaign medals and further medals from recognition in Post-Soviet states. The booklet is named, belonging to “Oleksandr Viktorovich Kolotusha”, a soldier of Ukrainian origin. This grouping includes the following 3 medals: -“Medal From the Grateful Afghan People”, a Soviet-era medal awarded to soldiers who served in Afghanistan.-2014 dated unofficial veteran’s medal for 25 years of withdrawal -Ukrainian war veterans medal awarded to Ukrainian veterans of WWII or Afghanistan All medals are in various conditions. The Afghan medal is in rough shape, with half of the enamel missing on the front and a fair amount of rusting on the back. The Ukrainian medal is in fair shape with some light spots of wear. The 25 years medal, strikingly, is both the most pristine and the most high quality one, possibly suggesting that the veteran cared more for it. The polished brass shines nicely, and the ribbon is basically still in mint shape. These unofficial medals were awarded by Afghan veterans organizations, showing the close bonds between these veterans who often lacked government support. Overall a decent set reflecting a veteran who continued to be active in commemorating his service decades after the war. Reasonable offers are more than welcome. I am always open to communication or negotiation and am more than happy to do combined shipping.
