Description: Please read & note: This is a Rights holding DVD created & produced by me and is not factory made or sealed. I strive to produce the best DVD's possible from the sometimes VERY old Public Domain material. Films that are public domain are unpreserved and not professionally re-mastered. I re-master all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. My DVDs are not the quality of todays Modern DVDs or Bluray discs. If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Total runtime of this DVD is 63 minutes. Film 1: "Shake Hands With Danger" (1970) COLOR Runtime 23 minutes Safety film about dangers associated with earthmoving equipment operation, showing many great simulated accidents on construction sites. CONTENT ADVISORY: May be frightening and surprising to some viewers, and contains great country-style song by a Johnny Cash-soundalike. This safety film for construction maintenance workers is very well-made. Various repairmen working on big construction equipment ignore safety rules and get into various mishaps, some close calls and some gory accidents. Instead of attributing these safety violations to the vague rubric of "carelessness" like so many other films, this film actually points out some of the psychosocial factors involved, such as machismo, overconfidence, pressure to get the job done fast by supervisors, and being distracted by troubles at home. The situations are quite believable and well-acted. The accidents are rather hard to watch because the gore is very realistic and you never know in any situation whether you're going to see a close call or somebody's hand being cut off or something. The film has a catchy country music theme song that will make you smile. Film 2: The Winners - The Losers (1970) COLOR Runtime 13 minutes Caterpillar Forklift Safety competition film. Film 3: On Every Hand (1970) COLOR Runtime 9 minutes Sort of like a simplified "Shake Hands With Danger", this film tells workers to be extra careful when handling big machinery with your hands, they're the only ones you got! Featuring many demos of foam hands getting caught in various machines. Film 4: Down And Out (1970) COLOR Runtime 9 minutes Produced by the National Safety Council, Down and Out provides viewers with examples of virtually every possible way people can fall and injure themselves. An innocent-looking yet horribly inept worker clad in a brown work suit serves to illustrate every single slip and trip, leaving viewers to ruminate about the cost of his life insurance premiums. The film's colorful warehouse setting and the inclusion a cartoonish, oversized wrench undermine the tone of the film's narrator, who is quite serious about the importance of keeping one's balance. Regardless of what one might make of the presentation style, however, the film is still as relevant as when it was first released. Film 5: Safety in Offices (1944) B&W Runtime 9 minutes This is one of the few films that shows the dangers of the white-collar life. Nice looking comedy of manners film produced for military personnel about the many hazards an office might have. Almost played for laughs, but should somewhat be taken seriously, we see Miss Whipple and her motley of office workers stumble fall, get fingers caught etc while no doubt the viewer laughs and learns. Nice shots of Office Equipment that are not used anymore in this film as well. I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
