Description: A beautifully restored example with pristine East Indian mahogany, polished sides, sole and brass, and the original japanned black paint is at least 95% intact and still glossy. Sargent VBM (Very Best Made) planes were manufactured in New Haven, Connecticut in the early 1900s. This one has a Jan. 12, 1915 patent date. The plane shows little if any wear, and all the screws and adjustments work properly. This is shop-ready with a razor sharp cutting iron that has plenty of life left, but in this condition it should probably be left in the display case.
