Description: (This is a tire-driven generator light, NOT battery-operated!) This is an gorgeous find: a clean and fully working example of a compact 6-volt, 3-watt block generator headlight for front fork mounting from sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, made by Sanyo of Japan. It's in excellent condition (I don't think it was ever actually installed on a bike) and full working order. (A 6-volt power supply was used to light it for the photos here.) The headlight bulb is 3.0 watts, compatible with any standard 6-volt, 3-watt bike generator. (If adding a taillight, the 3-watt bulb should be replaced with a 2.4 watt, which will leave enough output in reserve to feed a standard 0.6-watt incandescent taillight bulb.) The intermediate bracket between the headlight and fork mounting clamp is about 2½" long with a 1" offset, and is reversible for either left or right fork mounting. The power lead is about 12" long. Construction is an aluminum housing with plastic lens and chrome steel mounting bracket. An internal clip in the housing holds a spare bulb. (The spare is blackened from use but still tests good.) All chrome has been polished to bring back the shine, and waxed to keep it that way. This set is in clean unused condition with correct incandescent bulb inside. It's in good working order and ready to install.
