Richard F. "Dick" Gordon, Jr. (b. 1929), a US Navy test pilot, set a new speed record of 2 hours, 47 minutes, flying from Los Angeles to New York (an average speed of 869.74 mph). Joining NASA's astronaut corps in 1963, he was pilot of Gemini XI, performing two spacewalks and a docking maneuver. He was Command Module pilot during the second moon landing, Apollo XII (November 14-14, 1969), performing experiments in lunar orbit while astronauts Charles Conrad and Alan Bean descended to the surface. Gordon was backup crewmen for several missions, including Apollo XV. Retiring from NASA in 1972, he worked for several aerospace firms and also as Executive Vice President of the NFL's New Orleans Saints. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
