Description: 24" T x 5" W x 4" in Depth Ray Williams (1933-1988), master carver, was the son of master carver, Sam Williams (1884-1979) who was the originator of the distinctive William's Family carving techniques and design. Ray Williams is known for his highly intricate cutting work, sometimes cutting through the surface of the wood all the way to the back with exceptional detail. His artworks are highly sought after and collectible. This totem is in remarkable condition with very minor signs of surface wear. It appears to portray a mosquito with a face in between its two wings. Above the face rests a hidden frog. The mosquito stands atop an eagle who has consumed another frog. The depictions in the totem each feature exquisite detail in mother of pearl; a total of 24 hand inlayed pieces are present. It is a very unique, one-of-a-kind Ray Williams piece. World class museum quality. The totem is made of yellow cedar wood. It has an exceptional artist signature on the reverse and also has a number at the base. Unable to ship to a P.O. Box.
