Description: This is a very rare antique Gorham sterling silver vase in the Japanese style, with a hammered body, reeded top collar, and four hanging ring handles. This style became popular in American silver designs during the last quarter of the 19th century. The vase measures 5" tall, 2 3/4" across, and the foot measures 2 1/4" in diameter. It weighs 165.7 grams. The bottom footing is engraved with the initials "MBT" on one side and the date "1876" on the other. The underside bears the Gorham trademark, Sterling, pattern number "1435", and date letter "I" for 1876. Excellent condition with no damage. Such a beautiful piece. I've not seen another like it.
