Description: Found in very early estate in Baltimore County . Very early wood safe box with lock. Was wrapped in early leather hide and surrounded by a tooled leather with brass rivets. The interior is covered in early 1810s era newspaper clippings. The back is down to bare wood with what’s left of early leather hide wrap that must have became brittle. Currently the top is without hinges but it displays beautifully and the lock clasp in front can hold it together for display. Original brass lid handle, see photos for details. Measurements below 15” wide 8” deep 7 1/2” tall
