Description: This beautiful Illuminated 12 inch globe by Rand McNally is sure to turn heads in your home or office! It has the black ocean (starlight) which looks fantastic when illuminated in a dark room. It has a metal base. The globe is in very good overall condition--no peels or bumps. There is one noticeable scuff of light colored paint above the Philippines. I didn't dare try to remove it for fear of damaging the globe. There is a small scratch above the O of Ocean in the Atlantic. And there is some separation between the stickers in India--most likely came that way when new. (see photos). I searched for comparable Rand McNally globes, and this is the only one I could find. As far as age, it does show the Soviet Union. The age of the Leviton switch on the electric cord makes me guess 60s, especially since it's a two-prong plug, not three. Don't quote me on that, though. The electrical wire is still supple, not rigid or brittle. Overall, this is a stunning piece! I do my best to accurately describe the items I'm selling.
