Description: This shaker was made by Homan Mfg in the later ‘teens. They started out as Homan Plate in the 1890s, and they were out of business by start of WWII toward the end of 1941. So, a Homan piece in your collection speaks of knowledge and judgement. In this instance it is also a good indicator that this shaker came throughout prohibition and the thirties. This piece came out in the late teens, making its smooth panels and lack of ornament very modern. At a time when "hammered" was the finish styling of choice, this was one of the first designs to introduce the new motion aesthetic to the American public. The items I sell are original antique or vintage items and most of them will have been used for the purpose that was intended. This is because we, my partner and I, like to integrate our pieces into everyday life, we use old cocktail shakers and elegant glassware of the period and vtg serving warefor parties... it's nice to use the things you love, and the joy you reaphelps you fight a good rear-guard action against adulthood and atrophy. The shaker has some slight wear as you would expect from a shaker of this age, the burnished copper twinkling through the silver-plate that comes from years of loving use gives the shaker a feeling of warmth and authenticity. This shaker had a unique newspout-cap, it was all-metal and all too easy to lose, which makes thisa considerably rarer specimen as it comes complete with the spout cap. We combine shipping so check my store for more goodies from the 1900s to 1950s. Add this a wonderful prohibition cocktail shaker to your collection today!
