During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin. First debuting in 2021, Petersons limited-edition Carroll of Carrollton series pays tribute to Irish-American signatory to the US Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll (also Marylands first senator), and to the great bond between Ireland and America more generally. For the 2024 release limited to only 248 pieces Peterson chose a tavern pipe, or demi-warden, length rendition of the tomato shape found commonly in pipes during the very birth of briar.
