PAIR 5 Tier Metal Pagoda Lamp Japanese Red Fabric Shade Internal Light Music Box

Description: Buyer will receive a PAIR (2) of Asian Pagoda Style lamps. The lamps are metal and are in very good shape.There is a sliding switch on the base of both lamps. If centered all lights are off. If pushed to the left the night light, which lights up the entire pagoda base, goes on. If pushed to the right the main lamp light goes on. Under the base is a key to wind a music box, both music boxes work and are marked Tokyo Japan. Both lamps have been rewired and work well. They each have double (2) lamp shades, for a total of four (4) shades. Condition of both lamps is very good. There is light wear on the edge of one shade, but they are delicate due to age and have discoloration on the ivory portion of the shades (see pics). Also, there are small, solid metal bells wired to each corner of the lamp shades and two are missing. Packing will be difficult due to the shades. However buyer can rest assured that extreme care will be taken during the packing process. The lamps will arrive in a large box and the shades in their own boxes for safety. I have searched the internet and concluded that the shades are the rarest part of the lamps. They should be treasured. As to the age I have seen many guesses. I agree with the 1940's idea, or possibly earlier. Because they are of Pagoda design, and the music boxes are marked Tokyo Japan, that leads me to think they were made in Japan prior to WWII. Each lamp bottom is marked with a patent number but I was unable to find any information relating to these numbers.
