West Lancashire Railway train, hauled by locomotive "Blackburn", on the way to Southport, by C Hamilton Ellis. Original wooden frame. Dated around 1951. Original & authentic, not a modern reproduction. The original oil painting was by Cuthbert Hamilton Ellis, made in 1951, for a British Railways, London Midlands Region (BR/LMR). The train is depicted on its way to Southport, Merseyside. This was one of a series of paintings commissioned for carriage prints by George Dow, advertising manager of BR/LMR during the 1950s.
