Description: Here is an old, black & white photo of a nurse in her uniform. On the back of the photo she is identified as Miss Blanche Fink Allentown, Pa. The photographer was B. Metzger of Allentown. I did some research and found that Blanche was born in 1896, the daughter of William & Ida (Layton) Fink, the family lived in Allentown. She graduated in 1917 from the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. Blanche treated wounded soldiers at Camp Crane at the Allentown Fairgrounds during WWI. She was also a private duty nurse, and then went on to work at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. She married Winfield Longenecker (1892 - 1958) in 1928, they had two sons, William and Winfield, Jr. Winfield passed away while a young child and William became a doctor. Blanche died in 1989, she and her husband are buried at Grandview Cemetery in Allentown. The photo is nice and clear with some slight wear normal from age. The cardboard photographer's folder it is in has some wear to it, but not much and it's kept the photograph nice. Great old photo for anyone researching the history of the Fink or Longenecker families. Postage will be 4.75 to the U. S. IF OUTSIDE THE U.
