Description: This offering is for an antique early 20th century Carved Wooden Owl Decoy that was made by Herters. I believe these were made in the 1930's to 1940's. The decoy measures 18.5" in overall height to the top of it's ears and it's completely original and untouched. The wood is hard balsa and it still retains the hanging screw sets at either side of the neck. The original claw beak is also still in place and in excellent condition. There is a tight vertical surface crack on one side that actually looks like a seam separation. There is also a crack in the block base but it's stable and the owl stands easily. The paint condition is wonderful with minor wear to the surface of the owls body, most is confined to the back and a bit more wear on the base.
