Description: Newfoundland Folk Art Carved Fish, C.1905. 8.5" x 3.25" x 1 1/8". This was given to me back in 1972 while up in Gander, Newfoundland. It was carved by a local named 'Buddy' who's hands were grizzled by time and toil. He was an old retired cod jigger who said he carved this in his twenty's around the turn of the century. A very, very cool piece of maritime Newfoundland folk art. Not sure what type of wood it is.
