United States Navy Pay Clerk Lloyd Talley Griffin was born on July 21st 1892, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Benjamin and Mary Griffin. Lloyd enlisted as a Seaman in the U.S. Navy around 1915. He served 4 year at sea during World War I and was transferred to the minelayer U.S.S. Shawmut around 1919. He was promoted to Acting Pay Clerk and served until October 25th 1920. He was promoted to Pay Clerk and transferred to the Naval Reserve Force on January 13th 1921. For his service during the World War, he was issued this Victory medal which he had engraved along the rim. Lloyd signed the World War II draft on April 27th 1942, stating that he worked at the Allied Chemical and Dye Corp. United States Navy Pay Clerk Lloyd Talley Griffin died on December 19th 1963, in Freeport, New York, at the age of 71.
