The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is one of the most prominent museums in the country and, at the time of this publication, was the owner of the nine Louis paintings reproduced in this book. Also included are paintings of contemporary artists including Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. This publication also includes extensive narrative by Kenworth Moffett (1934-2016). Moffett was a champion of Color Field painting who wrote critical essays and reviews for major art periodicals throughout the late 1960s and 1970s. in 1971, he was made founding curator of twentieth-century art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
