Description: Up for sale is an exceptionally rare 1st edition 1st print copy of “Into the Darkness, Nazi Germany Today” by Lothrop Stoddard. This amazing and well written book is like an investigative report chronicling his somewhat clandestine trip to Nazi Germany in 1939 - right at the onset of World War ll. Stoddard, was an American historian, journalist, political scientist and prominent white supremacist who promoted the concept of “scientific racism". His most well known books were on the topic of eugenics and coming racial conflict. He spent months in wartime Germany in 1939 and was enthusiastically received by Nazi authorities, even meeting with Adolf Hitler, who praised his earlier writings. Surprisingly, the book takes a rather neutral stance on Nazi Germany rather than being outwardly supportive. The print run was very small and as I post this today, I cannot locate another single first printing copy elsewhere on the internet (not Ebay, Amazon, AbeBooks, Biblio, etc.) CONDITION: The book is in solid and square Very Good condition with clean text block. It only exhibits light handling wear from having been read and has a corner bump on the upper rear edge per the last photo.
