Description: Born in 1923, Loretta Cain was a prominent New Mexico artist. She painted for nearly 70 years until she became blind. She also owned an art gallery in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1995, Cain moved to Silver City and opened another art gallery. Cain painted in the Impressionist style and used a large pallete of colors in her works. Her subject matter was often landscapes and scenes of everyday life in New Mexico. In this original composition, Cain has painted a rural landscape divided by a dirt road and peppered with puffy trees and bright white flowers. As always, the real star of this work is Cain's use of bright color. This framed painting measures 24"x20" and is signed by the artist.
